Organizing!!

The most impressive and unnoticed thing about our house is the closets. When we took our 15 minute look around the house a year ago I looked at the closets and thought they were ok. I didn't even know how big my closet was until after we bought the house. I always "dreamed" (in my fairy tale house that has towers and moats) of having his and her's closets that were huge and extremely organized but I never thought it would happen. Well it has happened. My closet is slowly getting to where I want it but it still needs more living in to realize what I want and need. However Daniel's closet is close to finished. Yesterday I wanted to accomplish something so I went for it. I have been in an organizing whirlwind the last few days and I don't see it stopping until the weather gets nice for spring.

The only problem with me and organizing is discarding everything. Well not everything but many things. When Daniel and I first got married and were getting used to living with each other I was shocked with the amount of clothes he own. I have moved around so much in my life that I purge the majority of my things every time I move. When we got married I got rid of 3/4ths of my closet. This was not the case with Daniel. I can't remember exact numbers but he had at least 20 pairs of pants!! (he will probably change that when he reads this) (added: I just counted his pants and he has 13 pairs and I through out 4 pairs of jeans yesterday so I am sure he had way more that 20!) Well it took a few months but I got rid of many of his held onto for years clothes. I didn't do it straight away but I waited until we had lived in our second place for 6 months (it didn't help that I was pregnant, I tend to throw everything that bothers me away when pregnant) and I noticed that I had never seen him wear some of the items of clothing (that was 9 month without wearing something!!) So I made him wear it or toss it. Man I am crazy sometimes. Anyway I do the same thing now every 6 months. He comes home from work one day with a reorganized closet and a pile of clothes thrown at him to toss or convince me he will wear. So here are some pictures.(haha I just noticed the random black sock. It gets to sit there until its partner is found)

Other side of the closet

After rereading what I just typed I am wondering if this is a strange thing I do? Do you keep all your clothes from forever ago or do you try to keep only the classic peices that you still want to wear and that make you feel good? I even purge SHOES!! That may be a deadly sin but I know which shoes I love and wear and which ones looked good in the store that I now avoid looking at. We all have our quirks right? I guess I am the opposite of a hoarder. Anyway I am serious what are your clothes hoarding habits?

Reeves weekly update

I have been so busy!! Jamison is waking up only once or twice in the night now and we have started sleep training in the crib. Its going very well. That being said I have much more energy!! Its amazing what 5 straight hours of sleep can do for a person. I have also started working out and it gives we way more energy in the day. It was my birthday last month and Daniel got me the gift I have wanted for years!! An exercise bike. I have wanted one since Alexander was born. I couldn't start using it until two weeks ago though and I love it! Its perfect because I don't have to leave the house to use it and I use it during nap time and its just lovely with some music!

This past week I have been organizing the house like crazy! Every Spring and Fall I get the organizing bug. In the Fall I want to get it ready to be decorated for the fall so I like it organized from top to bottom. I winterized the kids closets and I also got all the correct sizes in there and put the old ones in storage. Then we cleaned out the garage but only organized it a bit. We need to get some kind of organization system in there. I just love organizing and throwing things away. It puts me in such a good mood! We also donated toys and clothes to savers. I love to go through all their toys and donate all the ones that drive me nuts. How horrible is that? Well I have started trying to make rules with kids toys. If its broken throw it away and if Christmas is coming purge a lot of toys to make room for the new toys. Its all a process I guess.

Oh and last week was Daniel's 30th Birthday. I got him a Wii and surprised him and everything. I am horrible with surprising him! He has been getting birthday presents for a least a month now because I can't wait and I give it to him early.

So here is a video of the kids playing the wii together.

Friday Night with the Reeves

Last Night we celebrated Daniel's new promotion by going to Rudy's BBQ which is Texas styled BBQ it was really good but they didn't sell a single vegetable there, unless you count baked potato or corn on the cob. Before we went to dinner we went and got Daniel some new work clothes because he needed them :) He spotted these boots on Wednesday and there was only one pair left in his size. I made him wait on them because they were expensive and I wanted to do the shoe test (If you can't stop thinking about them for a day or two then you really like them) As soon as he got home from work yesterday he rushed us out the door to go get them. He put them on as soon as we got to the car. I have never seen him react to shoes this way. (He has officially experienced shoe love) I told him they look like Australian cow boy boots. They are Timberlands and 100% leather and WATER Proof. Thats right water proof not water resistant. Here they are :)
That was as exciting as the night got. Daniel put on his Nuggets game and fell asleep right away while I sat in the dinning area and did this:

Thats right I haven't put anything in a file for the last 3 months and piles of paper and whateverness had accumulated all over the house. I do this every 3 months, I take a laundry basket and travel the house and find all the unorganized junk and file it, trash it and organize. (I used to do it once a month but I have digressed) Its very therapeutic. Especially when you get to have one of these keep you company:
I didn't finish until midnight. Oh well at least its done. Then at about 2am Eva was screaming (she has been doing this a lot so I think I will stick her back in Bubbas room) she seems to hate to be alone. I have started leaving her door open and turning the hall light on (yes I tried a night light and it worked for one night only) that makes her not cry but then she starts kicking the wall because she is wide awake. I got up with her and watched a movie hoping that would do the trick. NOPE still wide awake. We are going a little crazy. She hates to be alone and hates the dark but I HATE having her in our bed she turns horizontal straight away kicks off all the covers and kicks and whacks you in the face. At least Alexander enjoys his sleep still. I didn't get to bed until 430 and then got up at 8 because Eva was awake and I came out to find this:

It made me laugh. He LOVEs his Saturday morning cartoons.
