5 years Today

Today we have been married for 5 years. We didn't realize this was the case until Kathryn (Daniel's mother) asked him about it the other day. Whoops I totally forgot and cant believe its been so long although we are expecting the 3rd child and that sounds CRAZY 3 kids under 5 wow. Anyway so happy anniversary to us I guess. I keep asking Daniel if he wants to do something because I guess 5 years is a big one? He says he doesn't know. All I want to do is get out of the house for a few hours and maybe buy a rug.

We got carpet yesterday!!! Wohoo the carpet guys were really nice and someone upgraded our carpet pad without telling us but thats great!! We love it. Only the upstairs is carpeted (the downstairs is going to be laminate wood and tile for the sake of the dog and dust) but furniture is finally going up there and we LOVE it. It feels like a brand new house up there. Now we are making a list of furniture we want to get and I typically buy it used and make it what I envisioned to be in the space so I still have a lot of work to do but I still enjoy it. I would post a picture of some of the rooms with carpet but I can't seem to remember how to put my photo card into my computer. I know that sounds ridiculous but I sat there for 10 minutes injecting it into every little card space and it wouldn't read. Things like this happen all the time when I am pregnant.

Oh and YAY its the weekend!!!

Little Henry

(Stole this from his facebook)
Henry got his mission call to Toronto East. His reaction was classic and hilarious. I wish someone would have recorded it. Congrats Henry.

Last Weekend

Carpet is coming into the upstairs either at the end of this week or the beginning of next week so we need to get all the rooms upstairs painted. We started with the master bedroom on Saturday here are some befores:

Daniel was hard at working cutting in the ceiling
and here is the After. This is my favorite corner in the room because of all the light. The color I chose is called cement. Thats kind of funny I know. Alexander and Eva insisted on posing when they saw the camera come out.
Here is Daniel ripping off tape and putting the door stops back in( that little room thing to the left is going to be my closet. Its HUGE.
We also painted the guest room. I had been picking up Oops paint at Lowes and Home Depot for $5 a gallon thinking those were the colors I wanted. Daniel made sure I tested them on the wall first and I hated them. So we got an empty paint can and mixed 4 different colors together until we hit a gallon and I actually like the color now. It is a light olive green. I didn't take a picture because we keep that room locked because of the construction zone atmosphere and we don't want the kids getting hurt. Its a pretty dark color though at least I think it is so EVERYTHING in there is going to have to be white and light but that ofsets the color well.

Sunday was not so productive. There was a cold front on Thursday and I think the kids and I got sick that day. We were dressed warm with sweaters and things but we were in flipflops and I think that wasn't smart. Anyway on Friday the kids were sick and just laying around on couches while we painted upstairs. I felt sick but not where I could really feel it just the burning throat and starting of a runny nose. But by night fall I had to take medicine and all the places on my face hurt. Sunday morning at 7 we woke up to get ready for church and the kids were WORSE and I was Way WORSE too. Daniel started to feel the sick coming and so we had to stay home. I was wishing I would be better by then because I hate missing any church especially on the first few weeks of your new ward. But contaminating the primary is not an option. I felt so sick Saturday night that I didn't want to go to the grocery store for last minute Sunday things so we didn't have any bread. We made our first rolls all sick and gross but we made them and they were yummy so I am finally encouraged to try again

and that was our weekend. I am still sick but Daniel got enough sleep last night to not get sick. I need to take it a little easier so that I get all the way better. I hate when colds linger. Wish us luck with our huge todo list for the week including finding paint colors for the office/hallway and the kids room.

Our new house

We are officially 'in' out new house (meaning we are out of the old one but there are just boxes as furniture) there is still ALOT to do. Here are some things I have learned being a homeowner:

  • Animals are the WORST investment!!! Do not get one if you can avoid it.
  • Crowbars are very good investments (I got a mini one called a smart bar)
  • Shopvacs are necessary. They suck up spills out of carpets!!
  • paint is a GREAT investment, it adds your personality but with $30 you can make it plain again
  • having flooring is nice
I have been working really hard at the house. Daniel has been working really hard at work the summer is coming so the tough (meaning many many many more hours) season is coming.

To be honest I didn't think such a new home could be such a fixer upper. To be honest again it only needs paint and floors but we are just impatient. We have already ordered our carpet. It should be in the store on the 29th so just a few more weeks. I am going to rip up all the carpets before then so I can make sure to treat the floors so the gross animal stuff doesn't ruin my new carpets our down stairs is another story though. I have ripped up all the carpets and tack boards and alexander helped me mop the concrete yesterday. We are trying to get it to smell like concrete and not cat and dog urine. This is why I say don't get animals. This house is no more than 3 years old and it smells like someone died in here and the corpse was here for 5 years straight. I am serious about that. It is all because of the animals the lady had. When we first saw it all I smelled was cigarette smoke. Now I wish it smelled like cigarette smoke. Anyway so she had like 4 dogs and 2 cats and a giant lizard thing. NONE of the animals were house trained and it shows for sure. If I rented out a house I would NEVER allow pets. Not after seeing this anyway. Or I would charge a $2000 deposit to replace all my carpets. However I am being harsh. I don't think any of the messes were ever cleaned after the pets peed so thats gross all in itself. All I know is I need a dyson already and I only have a little dog who isn't allowed out of his bed for more than a few minutes (unless he is running in the back yard) Luckily for me he can't get up the stairs (he is that small) so he will never EVER be in the carpeted area We are putting laminate wood floors down stairs so its more pet friendly. He is not potty trained either and i read that you should NEVER let them out in your house until they are potty trained or they will keep doing it.

Wow that was a rant. Sorry about this rant but I think all the animal junk here (hair and pee) had given me extra allergies which makes me extra useless in the mornings. The good thing is that I bath lil Dolce regularly so that he doesn't add to the smell here.
I am sure animals that are potty trained are great and that dysons are the best investment ever. I haven't told Daniel yet but I am getting a Dyson as soon as my current vacuum breaks.

Oh and don't get me wrong I love my new house. I will just love it more after I have treated it all to not smell. I actually love all my projects I have. I HATED not doing anything. I will be sad when the projects run out though.

Here is my downstairs floors except the bathroom and kitchen which are tiled.

The 5th member of our family

Here are the Ultra sound pictures. I will let them do the talking. Daniel and I are really happy. The first one is suppose to be a 3d image but the baby was moving around too much.

Update

We haven't been blogging at all because we have been spending all of our time at the house trying to get the things done that we need to before we move our stuff in. Tonight we are trying to move out of this house. I think we can do it as long as I can keep my energy up.

Here are some befores and afters, No furniture yet that will come in well at the end of the week.

Kitchen before

Kitchen after ( I am not loving the color I picked out but I am going to have cobalt blue accents so hopefully it will look less like a little boys room) I love my teapots not I need 7 more blue and white teapots. Who knows how long that will take to do.

Family room before

After. Sorry this was taken at night and now those floors are all gone I ripped out all the carpet.
Close up of the fireplace. It needs new tile but that is on the far away list (any suggestions on what to put in that pop in.

The family room wall

We couldn't have done all the painting without Ralphs know how. Thanks Opa. He even let Bubba help. Oh how we loved that.

We let Alexander paint the fence outside it was a bit of orange juice for color and water and he loved it.

The End.

P.S I had my official Ultra sound today. More to come later.

Today

Today seems like its been busy. Ralph got here yesterday and got right to work with painting. I am very excited about all the paint. I think I hate the kitchen color but we will see. Daniel ripped up all the carpet off the stairs and I am very happy about that. I bought a shop vac today and its the best ever. I'm tired so this is going to be very short in fact it is over. I will show you some pictures when I take some. The End.

Floor Plan

This is the floor plan on our house its a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath. You will see more pictures as we go and get things in better shape. All the bedrooms are upstairs and there is a loft thing that was the option of a loft or extra bedroom and the previous owner chose loft so who knows if that will be an office or a tv room thing or what? Who knows. I would love to make it an office and have a HUGE skinny dinning room table thing in there for all my stuff. But that might look super messy and thats just a secret dream I have :) Anyway I will probably be posting house progress more seeing as that is all we will be doing for the next few weeks (probably longer)

Eva is much better already but crying a lot.

WE are Homeowners

That is right we are officially homeowners. After months of searching we finally found the one and we got the keys on Monday (small super random note, getting a mortgage is WAY easier than getting a greencard!!! I am not saying mortgageness is not difficult it is but Green card is FAR WORSE). There is a lot of work to do before we move in (painting and cleaning, carpets floors gross animal smells think of the dump and you are close (previous renter of the house had 4 dogs 2 cats and a giant lizard iguana thing) and getting things how we want them) but its a great house and we are really happy with it. I have been going half days with the kids to the house for prep. I wish I had more energy to get things done but I must take the pace that my body allows.

Eva was awake all night crying and then this morning was complaining that her foot hurt. She said "OUCHIE" every time she tried to walk. I wasn't worried until I checked her foot the 3rd time and I bent it outward and she yelled ouchie so we had to go to the doctor and get x-rays. She hated it all and got super fussy. I have been pushing her around in the stroller because she cries and yells ouchie whenever she gets to her feet. Its swollen and no breaks or fractures so far. Carrying a 27lb baby around all day long is tough. She is so wiggly and stubborn too. Alexander is trying to be understanding but acting out. He kept telling me he was mad at the doctor for making Eva cry. Eva kept telling me her body hurt. I have been keeping an Ace bandage on her foot but she wants to wear both shoes and as I look at her right now she took the bandage off. Great. I must say its been a trying day for us all.

At the house we are currently trying to finish the kitchen to at least be able to move our current things in there so we can be there longer in the days. Here is all the taping we have done. It doesn't look like alot but it takes forever (plus I cleaned all the cabinets inside and out and the ceiling). Tomorrow is the first paint.(Alexander loves the open space, I am sure he will hate the furniture)
I will keep you posted.
P.S I hate the microwave thing in the kitchen picture. At some point I want to replace it with a Hood for the stove because there is grease stuff EVERYWHERE for the lack of a good hood. I was even cleaning the ceiling. Luckily it all came off.
