Opa and Grandma Reeves

Opa and Grandma Reeves are visiting. It has been a lot of fun. On the first day we went on a walk around the Hilton Grounds to see Daniel's work. We saw spiders and all kinds of things.

The second day we went to the Hyatt to go swimming. I went on the slide with Alexander and he loved it. Ralph and Kathryn got their first taste of snorkeling in Guam. It was right by the Hyatt on Tumon Bay and they saw a blue star fish. No pictures of this because we were running around in water all day. Later that night we went to Chammorro village to eat local food. It was yummy and fun. We got strawberry and pina colada frozen drinks which were delicsious. Today we went to Latte Stone Park because we were trying to take it easy. This evening we went to two lovers point. You get the best view of Tumon bay from there and you can see deep into the ocean.

Kathryn and Daniel enjoying the view

It was a beautiful evening. On the way home we actually saw a Brown Tree Snake on the road. Daniel jumped out and took some photos. It was his first live one.

Tommorrow Daniel and Ralph are going golfing and then we are driving around the whole island sight seeing. It should be great fun and we will try to catch many pictures

Ralph caught this one, I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it.

These two are of Eva lately. She has gotten a lot bigger since the last photos (So has Alexander) She loves her Grandma and Opa Reeves and smiles for them all the time.

Daniel has had to work everyday so we have only spent the evenings with him. He is taking the day off tommorrow and we are very excited.

Last Week

Last week we went and saw some things. We went to Pirates cove and they have a whole bunch of those wooden cut out stick you head in it things. The first picture is of my mother with Alexander. The Next picture is at the Hilton nature trail where Daniel works. We went to try to see some blue starfish from the little cliff but none were out that day. Then we trekked to Gun Beach on Saturday. It wasn't that much of a hike, but you see a lot on the little hike and its kind of steep in some places. Alexander was in a pack on Daniel's back so that is why he isn't in this picture. The last two pictures are on Eva in her new church dress that her Amma gave her (Amma means grandmother in Icelandic). We have been doing a lot and will probably slow it down. We are hoping to get a drive around the Island in before they go. Daniel works on the 4th so we can't do it that day but we will see. We will need to go see Yokoi cave ( I am sure I spelled that wrong) Thats the cave where the Japanese Soldier lived for 30 years after WWII because he didn't want to get caught and tortured. Then we still need to go and see the Magellan site. He stopped here on his last trip. After Guam he went to Fiji where he was killed. So we have been having fun but taking breaks everyday in between.

Daniels Job

I am just posting a few pictures of me at Work. This is Daniel by the way. I really enjoy the work aspect of my job. I enjoy being outside and not stuck in the office all day, but having the office option available to me if it gets to hot outside. What I really like about the job is seeing the success of my work, being able to see the fruits of my labors. It is just nice to see accomplishments from my crew and me. What I don't like about my work is trying to please 3 or 4 different people on the same project who all have different opinions about how the Landscaping should be done. For example in the last picture it is a beautiful potted Bougainvillea bush on the pool deck at one of the properties I work at. I think it looks beautiful, and that is after weeks or months of training my crew how to prune for flowers, fertilizing, and water stressing it just a little to get maximum flowers. Apparently now it needs to be trimmed down to just twigs because it looks "overgrown". So this is what I deal with on a daily basis at my job. And it is not enough that I have to satisfy 3 or 4 different opinions at each property, sometimes those opinions change. Oh well, as long as the properties look good to me.

The other pictures are of some coconut tree pruning we do around the poolside at our properties. Normally we use a bucket truck because it is way more efficient. When we can't though we go up the trees. You will notice the one picture of me being a great supervisor. My hands were sweating just watching him go up the tree. In another picture you will see one of the guys truly enjoying the fruits of his labor. It was funny because this was one of the last trees we were doing and there was a crowd watching us prune and knock the coconuts off (apparently the hotels really worry about coconuts falling off trees and hitting a guest in the head) and when one of workers opened one up and drank from it all the guests came over and asked of they could try one. So there we were cutting off coconut tops so guest could drink from them. One of these days I am going to get trained on climbing trees and soon you will see Daniel up in a tree pruning the coconuts.
